Back in October 2019, Ilford announced the release of a brand new orthochromatic black and white film, called Iford Ortho Plus. The film is rated at ISO 80 ISO in natural light and 40 ISO in Tungsten and should, by now, be available from film photography suppliers.

According to Ilford, Ortho Plus was “designed as a technical, high-resolution copy film for negatives” and has been available in sheet format for some time. At such ISO ratings, it should have a fairly fine grain and sharpness and, once again according to Ilford, the “blue and green sensitivity of this emulsion enables the film to be handled in deep red safelight conditions”.

As ever with new photographic films, we welcome this development and look forward to adding even more new 35mm film types to our list of camera films.
